Britney Spears just got a new ‘do, thanks to celebrity stylist Chris Appleton — who shared a photo with the star and praised her personality Monday on Instagram.
Posting a selfie featuring the pop icon posing with her hands full of curling irons and her tongue sticking out, Appleton — known for his work with Kim Kardashian — wrote in his caption about the surreal feeling of calling one of his childhood idols a client. “As a kid growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments,” he began.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d one day be standing behind the chair (or in this case her standing behind mine, lol) styling her hair,” the artist continued. “Some moments really do come full circle. She is not only an icon, but one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls I’ve ever met.”
Spears doesn’t appear drastically different in the photo Appleton shared, but her hair does look straighter and glossy. She also seems in good spirits in the snap, which comes a couple of months after she checked herself into a treatment facility on the heels of her suspected DUI arrest in Ventura County, Calif., on March 4. The hitmaker ultimately took a plea deal and was sentenced to a year of probation, accepting guilt for a misdemeanor known as a “wet reckless” that’s less severe than a charge for driving under the influence.
“She has taken significant steps to implement positive change, which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI,” her attorney said in a statement at the time. “Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”
Public concern mounted again in May, however, when reports emerged that Spears had acted erratically with a knife at a restaurant — something her rep quickly shut down. “She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors,” the rep told Billboard in a statement. “At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife … This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now.”
