Rush will bring their triumphant reunion tour to Las Vegas’ Sphere next spring. The beloved prog rock band fronted by co-founders singer/bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson announced on Thursday (Nov. 5) that they will touch down at the iconic venue for the five-date Elevate From the Norm residency on May 21, 23, 26, 28 and 30.

Each night will feature a set of fan favorites and greatest hits, as well as the touching tributes to late drummer/lyricist Neil Peart that have been a moving staple of the band’s ongoing Fifty Something tour.

“When I first heard of Sphere, I thought to myself, ‘wow, what a shame that RUSH is no longer touring, because this venue sounds tailor made for the kind of visual attitude with which we have always designed our shows,’” Lee said in a statement. “Normally we spend months designing the visual effects for our shows and this scenario seemed like the cherry on top of the ice cream for our design team. But life is nothing if not surprising and now, here we are, living and touring in the present tense and we are able to make that particular dream come true.”

Lee said the group are currently working on expanding the trippy visuals that accompany the current tour and to concoct some “new madness to suit this incredible venue and musically perform the kind of show we’ve been doing in some of our ‘one off’ cities.” That includes the crowd-pleasing run through their entire 1976 prog masterpiece 2112 and their equally iconic 1981 eighth studio album, Moving Pictures. “We are so effin’ excited to make use of this incredible opportunity to please our fans both visually and viscerally — from wherever they might fly in from. Gonna be so much fun!!,” Lee added.

The “Tom Sawyer” group kicked off their first tour in 11 years — and first without Peart, who died on Jan. 7, 2020 — on June 7 of this year and they are slated to wrap the outing with an April 10 show in Helsinki, Finland before heading to Vegas. The group has been joined by drummer Anika Nilles on the tour, who has drawn widespread praise for her deft, precise approach to playing Peart’s legendarily complex drum arrangements; in addition, keyboardist Loren Gold has also filled out the band’s sound on stage during the outing.
