As Ye (formerly Kanye West) and Kim Kardashian’s marriage began to deteriorate, a massive argument between West and the Kardashian fam was allegedly cut from the final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

A Kim Kardashian biography by Jonathan Van Meter titled Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future is set to be released on Oct. 27, and The Cut obtained a revealing excerpt on Thursday (Oct. 15) featuring details of an alleged 2020 confrontation.

According to longtime KUWTK producer Farnaz Farjam, a heated Yeezy was “ripping into” Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner and the family for a half-hour over them not voting for him in the 2020 presidential election.

“Kanye came to Caitlyn’s house with Kim and he just started ripping into Kris and the family and questioning them about not voting for him [in the 2020 election],” Farjam said. “He just made it all about himself. That whole 30-minute battle was very telling, but we had to edit it out.”

Ultimately, E! show executives decided not to air the dispute that took place at Caitlyn Jenner’s birthday celebration. “Everybody is trying to come back together and be supportive,” Farjam added of the splintered family dynamic.

In a separate The Cut excerpt, Kardashian spoke to Van Meter about Ye’s willingness to challenge the status quo and his interest in her was aided by her being a reality TV star, while she also credited Yeezy with changing her life.

“I think he really fell in love with the idea of me, and the project behind it all. He loves things that maybe aren’t cool and ‘I’m going to make them cool.’ Whether it’s like, ‘I’m going to stop rapping and do a whole singing album, like 808s [& Heartbreak].’ And everyone’s like, ‘How could you not rap? It’s blasphemy!’ And then it’s the best album,” she said. “I think he’s like, ‘Let me be with a reality star. No one respects it. I’m going to show you how cool it is.’ He changed my life. He absolutely changed my life.”

The 21st and final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired from March through June 2021. The star-studded family has taken its talents to Hulu, as season eight of The Kardashians premiered earlier in October.

West and Kim K’s marriage continued to erode throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021 after more than six years of marriage.

The legal proceedings remained tied up in the court system until their divorce was finalized with a settlement in November 2022. The former couple shares four children: 13-year-old North, 10-year-old Saint, 8-year-old Chiago and 7-year-old Psalm.
