Mexican singer-songwriter Peso Pluma will be rooting for Mexico’s national football team for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in style with his latest collaborative endeavor.
Pluma partnered with Adidas to create a Mexico 26 away jersey for the football team’s 2026-27 season. He became an Adidas ambassador pre-World Cup. The news of his ambassadorship dropped in mid-February, marking a major moment in Mexican music, fashion and culture.
Peso Pluma said in a statement regarding the ambassadorship, “Representing the three stripes for Mexico and our music with Adidas is something I dreamed about since I was a kid. This isn’t just about me — it’s for my people, my culture and everyone pushing Mexico forward. I’m excited to join the Adidas family and keep showing the world who we are.”
Adidas has a ton of musical ambassadors under its belt, including Bad Bunny and YUQI from the K-pop girl group i-dle.
The collaborative jersey is available to shop ahead of the tournament’s June start date on Adidas’ website and at Warehouse Shoe Sale, otherwise known as WSS. The jersey retails for $100 and was launched alongside an Away Authentic jersey for $150.
Both the $100 and $150 jerseys can be customized with your favorite Mexico national football team player’s name, too. While both jerseys look the same on the outside — a white base with red and green trim — one is performance-based, while the other is meant for fashion and everyday wear.
Mexico 26 Away Authentic Jersey
This is an “elite performance jersey” meant to be worn on the turf when playing soccer. These performance jerseys, often labeled “authentic,” are designed for actual play time and are usually created with athletic-specific details in mind.
The Away Authentic Jersey is described as an “elite performance style,” a common phrase used to describe what is otherwise known as “authentic” or “vapor” jerseys. This style is less about fashion and more about function, featuring athletic design details that could be useful for soccer players on the field.
Features include moisture-wicking for soaking up sweat, heat-bonded seams (seams put together with heat and pressure rather than thread) for durability and the usage of lightweight materials for breathability. All of these facets can be found implemented into this “authentic” style because it is a jersey a soccer player might actually wear during a professional game. Even the fit of this “authentic” jersey is slightly slimmer because it promotes an aerodynamic feel and prevents players from grabbing at any extra fabric on the field.
Mexico 26 Away Jersey
This is a white jersey from Adidas in collaboration with Peso Pluma and Mexico’s national football team. This is not the “elite performance” version, rather, a replica.
The away jersey is more for style, featuring a relaxed fit and less advanced craftsmanship and materials, hence the lower price. For instance, while the “advanced” model has heat-bonded seams, your standard jersey has regular stitched seams. Sometimes, regular jerseys can feature embroidered or sewn-on badges for team logos, while “authentic” styles are usually heat-pressed to ensure they stay on tight.
In summary, a standard jersey like this is made for fans to wear in the stands, perfect timing considering the FIFA World Cup 2026 is creeping closer. If you are looking to root for Mexico during the tournament, the away jersey is your best bet.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will begin on June 11 and will run until June 19. The tournament is being jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. Mexico is just one of many countries taking part in the tournament. Other qualified teams include Canada, the United States, Algeria, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Morocco, Jordan, Scotland, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. Maná, Alejandro Fernández and J Balvin are just a few big names set to open the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Mexico.
